Firehouse Expo Offers More than Formal Education

Fire service trade shows are a great way to learn from leading national instructors, but they are also a great place to network with your brother and sister firefighters. And at this year’s Firehouse Expo, several networking events are planned to complement the educational conference sessions
Firehouse Expo kicks off with a very special Baltimore Welcoming Party, hosted by the Baltimore Firefighters Local 734, on Wednesday, July 15, at the Union Hall. The event, which begins at 6 p.m., is a chance to support your brothers and sisters and provides an opportunity for the Baltimore Fire Department to thank local departments who answered their calls for help after the recent demonstrations and civil unrest in the city. In addition, Local 734 will host a Block Party on Friday, July 17, beginning at 7 p.m.
On Thursday, July 16, the Central Maryland FOOLS will host its annual Brotherhood Bash in Little Italy. During this event, participating restaurants will be offering special discounts.
A very special event will be held on Friday, July 17, at the Horseshoe Casino. The Legends and Icons Celebration will recognize and celebrate the achievements of some of the most iconic figures of the American Fire Service and featured Firehouse contributors. The ceremony is from 6 to 8:30 p.m. on the Horseshoe Casino Patio. Admission to the event is free and includes two complimentary beverages per person, plus appetizers.
A team-building and formal networking event will be held on Saturday, July 18. The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb will be held at the Hilton Hotel, across from the convention center. Fire service professionals from around the country will honor and remember the FDNY firefighters who selflessly gave their lives on that tragic day. When the formal educational sessions end for the day, remember to make plans to attend one of the many networking events afterwards. Many times the learning continues outside the classroom.
