A Florida firefighter talking on a phone nearly crashed a rescue vehicle he was driving to an emergency.

After his partner yells about a pending crash, Orange County Firefighter Gary Stone responds: “I did not see him, did not see him. Sorry."

He was suspended for 12 hours after supervisors saw the video, according to WFTV.

Earlier this year, a civilian filed a complaint about Stone chatting on his phone while driving, the station reported.

It's against policy for drivers to use their phones.

Fire officials found out about the near-crash because of the drive cameras installed in 1,200 vehicles countywide, including fire rescue, the station reported.

“It's working. Most people are doing it right out there, and it's had the desired impact,” Orange County Fire Chief Otto Drozd told the reporter.
