Philadelphia Fire Commissioner Derrick Sawyer has apologized after learning about a texting ambulance driver.
"I was disgusted," Sawyer told a reporter after seeing a video shot by the mother of the toddler being transported in the Philadelphia Fire Department ambulance.
Sawyer reiterated the department's policy that no cell phones are to be used while driving.
"We are going to identify the person in the video and we are going to bring him in. We'll discipline him. As the fire commissioner, I want to apologize to her personally because this is not what we train our medics to do, what we train any of our drivers to do."
Ebony Clarke said the driver never put his phone down. She said she posted the video out of concern.
