A Franklin couple are dead after an early Saturday morning explosion and fire destroyed their unit in a condominium complex.

According The Republic, Masslive.com, the Franklin Fire Department responded to the Villages at Oak Hill at 6:48 a.m. and found heavy fire upon arrival.

The two bodies found in the unit were residents Nancy and Richard Brown both were 66.

There were no conclusive reports on the cause of the fire, but other news agencies said it was likely a gas explosion that cause the blast and fire.

The Massachusetts State Fire Marshal and the Massachusetts State Police as well as the Norfolk DA's office are investigating the fire.

Firefighters from Bellingham, Norfolk, Wrentham and Plainville provided mutual aid, according to the newspaper.
