Autopsy to Determine Cause of Death of Tenn. Firefighter

An autopsy will determine the cause of death of a Memphis firefighter found in his personal vehicle last week.

Lt. Antonio Smith, 46, had responded to a call at 7:33 p.m. on Oct. 6.

The next day, his neighbors saw him in his vehicle, but assumed he was sleeping. When they returned at 6:44 p.m., and realized he was still there, they checked and found him dead.

He had 17 years in the fire service.

This brings to 68 the number of firefighters to die on duty this year.
