A Detroit firefighter had started a gofundme page to create a reward to help nab a firefighter's murderer.
Veteran firefighter Dave Madrigal was found dead at his house last week, and the Wayne County Medical Examiner said he died from blunt force trauma to the head.
Days after creating the page, which has raised over $6,500 as of Wednesday morning.
Firefighter and Detroit Fire Fighters Association treasurer Verdine Day wrote: "OK facebook, my Detroit firefighters, other fire departments all over the country and now my softball family please help me reach my goal to find the killer or killers of my brother Super Dave, to bring them to justice. If you can only do five or ten dollars to this cause would be greatly appreciated. Thanking you in advance."
