One Dead; Firefighter, Others Struck After Va. Crash

One person was killed after they were struck by a car that left the roadway in Chesterfield County.

Several people were injured in a deadly scene Monday night a car plowed through a Chesterfield County crash scene.  

Chesterfield County Fire and EMS crews responded along with the Virgina State Police to a crash on Highway 288 around 5 p.m. to a two-car crash.

While crews were working at that scene, another vehicle went off the road, according to NBC12.com and struck several people before it slammed into a police car.

One person that was struck was thrown into a firefighter and died at the scene.

A trooper and victim from the original crash were transported with serious injuries. The firefighter suffered minor injuries. 

Police report that several accidents occurred on Highway 288 near the initial crash.
