Toxic water in Flint, Mich. is not only creating health risks for residents, firefighters suspect it's to blame for rusting engines as well.
Flint IAFF Local 352 President Jeremy Gilbert told a reporter: "It's a safety issue for us...That truck should not have that kind of wear and tear and rust,"
A 2014 rig is experiencing excessive rust inside, something they would usually see on one that's been around for 20 years.
"If we were inside (a burning structure) and it happened to break, or rust through or whatever, then I've got guys inside that are trapped without water," he added.
The pump on this truck may be working for now, but other parts are already malfunctioning.
Gilbert says many of the plastic seals on this newer truck are broken causing small leaks, which in the winter months can lead to lines freezi
