Firefighters in Stockton, Ill. battled a blaze in their station Thursday morning with help of neighboring companies.
The blaze destroyed a front line engine as well as a rescue truck and pickup trucks, according to The Telegraph Herald.
“We’ve had a great loss of equipment,” Chief Randy Baysinger told reporters.
It's suspected the fire was caused by an electrical malfunction in a trailer.
With most of the team’s equipment in the burning station, the volunteer team was forced to rely on what was stored in a garage across the street. Many firefighters fought the blaze in their street clothes, published reports indicated.
By the time the fire was extinguished, several volunteers’ faces were covered in soot.
Fire departments from Stockton, Pearl City, Scales Mound, Elizabeth, Warren, Lena and Apple River assisted at the scene.
The chief added that he's had offers for loaner equipment.
