Fire departments are encouraged to apply for the latest round of Assistance to Firefighter Grants (AFG) funding from FEMA.
The 2016 budget for the 2016 Assistance to Firefighter Grant program is $335 million.
Applications will be accepted today through 5 p.m. Nov. 18.
There are several changes to this year's scoring and rating.
AFG now recognizes that a complete set of PPE consists of two sets of gloves and two hoods.
Equipment will now be scored using three age categories: short is five to seven years, medium is eight to 14 years and long is 15 to 20 years. That allows items with a 10-year limit to complete against similar items.
Items considered Priority 1 Wellness and Fitness are now eligible for a Micro Grant.
