A Trenton firefighter was robbed after an emergency call Tuesday night.
The crew from Engine 7 left the scene of an EMS call on Hamilton Avenue when they were dispatched to a fire call.
The crew returned to Hamilton Avenue to pick up equipment, but there was no response at the door, according to NJ.com. The captain returned to the apparatus to get a piece of paper to leave a note.
When he approached the cab, a man walked up behind him, put a gun in his face and told him to hand over the contents of his pockets.
A nearby man told the robber "This guy is not from my hood," and both fled.
"The fire department is out there bettering the community, and these kinds of incidents hinder and deter our ability to help the community," fire officers union president Steve Coltre told NJ.com.
"It just opens your eyes to a whole new segment of being a first responder," Trenton Fire Director Qareeb Bashir said.
Police are investigating the incident.
