A firefighter was attacked in New Taipei, Taiwan, Sunday night when his crew tried to stop a group that ignored a ban on select fireworks.
Four crews of two New Taipei City firefighters were enforcing the Firework and Firecracker Management Act near Taipei Metro’s Tamsui Station when they confronted a group using fireworks.
A group of 10 revelers began yelling at crews and four of them physically attacked a firefighter, according to Taiwan News. Another firefighter called for police assistance.
Four people were arrested and face charges of assault causing bodily harm. The others face charges including interference with public order and interference with public functions.
The owners of the fireworks, which include those used by aerial fireworks shows, face fines between $10,000-50,000 possessing and using the fireworks.
