A two-alarm fire at a Grand Prairie apartment complex was brought under control in 15 minutes.

Residents at the Serrano Creek Apartments on Dickey Road, in Grand Prairie, TX were forced out of their warm homes into the cold night as Grand Prairie firefighters battled a two-alarm fire on February 8.

The first fire crew to arrive on scene of the fire that was called in at 10:10 p.m., found an upstairs unit in Building 1 fully involved. A second-alarm was requested at 10:14 p.m.

It took firefighters approximately 15 minutes to contain the blaze to the unit, but smoke and water damage to the remaining units in the Building 1 displaced a total of eight families.

Crisis Response Ministry, Grand Prairie Office of Emergency Management and Hearts and Hoses assisted the displaced residents with their needs and housing in vacant units in the complex.

Battalion Chief Joe Harvey said there were eleven fire apparatus and 28 firefighters at the scene. No one was injured, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
