MANCHESTER — A city firefighter injured a knee battling a three-story building fire Friday afternoon on Concord Street, according to fire officials.

The fire at 202 Concord St. was first reported at 1:53 p.m. and all residents and pets were able to make it out safely.

An unidentified firefighter slipped on ice while carrying equipment and injured a knee. The firefighter will be out of work for a period of time, officials said.

The fire was brought under control by 2:11 p.m. No residents were displaced, officials said.

It began under a crawl space in the rear basement of the building, according to the fire department. A quick response limited damage to about $3,000, they said.

The cause is believed to be careless disposal of smoking materials, officials said.
