    Intense Fire Rips Through NJ Auto Dealership

    Firefighters encountered heavy fire and smoke upon arrival as a massive blaze tore through a Volkswagen dealership in Linden on Friday morning.

    Firefighters were battling a massive blaze early Friday at a Volkswagen auto service center in Union County, police said.

    Police and firefighters were called to a report of a fire about 6:35 a.m. in the 900 block of East Elizabeth Avenue in Linden, according to police Capt. Christopher Guenther.

    “Responders were met by a heavy smoke condition, and quickly located a fire in the garage portion of the building,” Guenther said. “This is one of the most intense and severe fires we’ve seen in a long time.”
