Winds Push Dallas Apartment Fire to Multiple Homes

Jan. 16, 2022
Dallas firefighters found a vacant apartment building engulfed in flames which spread to an adjacent neighborhood damaging six homes.

A vacant apartment building was destroyed and several homes were damaged during a fire early Saturday in northwest Dallas.

The fire was reported about 1:45 a.m. in the 3400 block of Hidalgo Drive, off Webb Chapel Road. Responding firefighters saw “heavy fire” coming from the vacant building, Dallas Fire-Rescue spokesman Jason Evans said.

“Aided by high winds, it wasn’t too long before the structure was fully involved,” he said.

It took more than 70 firefighters to bring the apartment fire under control, but the building collapsed.
