Firefighters from multiple Wisconsin departments battled a five-alarm blaze that broke out at an apartment complex Sunday.

Crews responded to the fire at Pebble Brook Apartments in Genoa City just before 9 a.m., WISN-TV reports. Although the cause of the blaze is under investigation, officials said at least six oxygen tanks in one unit exploded.

A firefighter fell through the building's second floor, but he was able to escape the structure on his own. His injuries weren't considered serious, WISN added.

The fire displaced 12 residents, and the building was considered a total lost. Officials, however, told the TV station that the fire could have been worse than it was.
