May 20, 2022
According to the Honolulu Fire Department, flames reached up to 100 feet in the air as multiple units were forced to battle the fire overnight.

On Wednesday night, the Honolulu Fire Department responded to a two-alarm fire at Island Recycling in Kapolei.

According to KHON2, the blaze reached up to 100 feet as multiple units were forced to battle the fire overnight.

HFD said the fire is also moving around and attacking several different piles in the area.

“And as different piles heat up it ignites the piles next to them. So we’re trying our best to protect some machinery and stuff that we’re trying to keep them running,” HFD Battalion Chief, John Pacheco told KHON.

The cause of the fire remains unknown, but HFD is investigating the incident.
