Long time Key Biscayne Resident and Deputy Fire Chief, Eric Lang, has been appointed to
the position of Fire Chief and Emergency Management Coordinator. As an original member of Key Biscayne Fire Rescue, Chief Lang is an 18 year veteran of the Department. He has served the community as a Firefighter/Paramedic, Public Information Officer, CFAI Accreditation Manager, Fire Lieutenant, Assistant Fire Marshal, Fire Marshal and Deputy Fire Chief. In addition, Chief Lang has been part of the State of Florida's Emergency Response Team, with deployment within Florida and as part of EMAC responses to Hurricane Katrina.
Lang is an Alumnus of the National Fire Academy, and has received his Associate in Fire Science from Miami Dade College, Bachelors in Public Administration from Barry University and a Masters in Business from the University of Miami.
Chief Lang is humbled and honored by the opportunity to lead the men and women of the Key Biscayne Fire Department and serve the Village of Key Biscayne in this capacity. He is thankful for the support that he received from within the Department, the fire service and the community. Finally, he says "I could not have been able to prepare for the responsibilities without the support of my family and great mentors."
