Smeal Fire Apparatus Co., a leading fire and rescue apparatus manufacturer, announces that Medina Fire Department, Ohio, has purchased the first 65-foot TeleSqurt Telescoping Aerial Boom to be sold since its acquisition of the assets of LTI.

Smeal purchased the assets of LTI, including the TeleSqurt technical data package, in June. The new TeleSqurt is scheduled to be delivered in late spring.

“The TeleSqurt seemed to be a perfect fit for our department," said Fire Chief Bob Painter. "It gives us one-person operation. It’s more compact than a traditional aerial and provides the elevated master stream and rescue capability that we need. We have a great working relationship with Steve Spath and Fire Safety Services, the Smeal dealer, and know that they take good care of us. Steve’s personal commitment to us really stands out.”

“We’re very happy to be building this newly upgraded and updated TeleSqurt for Medina Fire Department," said Jeff Wegner, Smeal's vice president of sales. "The TeleSqurt is a compact, rated aerial that lets departments respond with the maneuverability of a pumper. It’s ideal for departments that respond to a variety of fire and rescue calls, and its now been updated with our ultra-reliable electrical system and controls.”

The new 65-foot TeleSqurt Telescoping Aerial Boom features a three-section extruded aluminum box boom, which provides excellent vertical and horizontal reach with a short bedded length, short wheelbase, minimum overhang and a high degree of maneuverability.

The boom operates from 10 degrees below horizontal to 85 degrees above. Dual A-frame-style stabilizers are positioned in front of and behind the axles, providing maximum stability with a spread of just 11’9” for setup in tight streets, alleys and cul-de-sacs.

Smeal’s QL-12 multiplex electrical system, electric-over-hydraulic joystick control and LED lighting are standard. The TeleSqurt is equipped with a 1,500 gpm Waterous CMXC20 pump, 750-gallon water tank and is capable of flowing 1,000 gpm at the tip. Fold-down hand rails provide for a low overall travel height of 11’9” to accommodate low station doors, aqueducts and bridges.

Medina’s new TeleSqurt will ride on a Smeal Sirius chassis with a 199-inch wheelbase. Smeal’s dealer, Fire Safety Services, Inc., in Huntsville, Ohio, sold and will service this new aerial.

Fire Safety Services is led by President Steve Spath and known for its excellent customer service and technical support.
