Mar. 31 -- A good Samaritan pulled three young children from a burning car parked outside a Garland strip mall Saturday afternoon, according to fire officials.

The children, ages 1, 3 and 4, were left in the car parked right in front of GameStop on First Street, near Kingsley Road, shortly before 6 p.m.

Their father had been shopping inside, Fire Marshal Mike VanBuskirk said. When firefighters arrived, all three children were outside the car, which was fully engulfed in flames, VanBuskirk said.

A bystander had noticed the flames and pulled each of them out, witnesses said, but left before officials made it to the scene.

The 1-year-old was airlifted to a hospital, and the older siblings taken by ambulance. All three were in critical condition.

Garland police were working with the fire department to determine the cause of the fire.

No charges had been filed as of Saturday night.
