Firefighters and paramedics had to use ropes to rescue a crash victim in Carver on March 11.

Clackamas Fire Dist. #1 and AMR crews responded to a vehicle down an embankment on Highway 224 at 7:30 a.m.

Crews arrived to find the vehicle off the road and down a 30-foot embankment. The vehicle has crashed into several large trees and the male driver was trapped.

Clackamas Fire's rope rescue teams repelled down the embankment, stabilized the vehicle, and used extrication equipment to extricate the patient. The patient was secured to a backboard and used a mechanical advantage rope system was used to haul the patient up the embankment. 

The man was transported by AMR to a Life Flight helicopter for transport to OHSU.
