Homes for Heroes Donates $25,000 to Firefighter Cancer Support Network
BURBANK- The Firefighter Cancer Support Network, the nation’s premier organization supporting firefighters battling cancer, is the proud recipient of a major donation that will help firefighters and their families diagnosed with occupational cancer.
This Thursday, May 25th, The Firefighter Cancer Support Network will be at LACoFD Station 28, located in Whittier at 7733 Greenleaf Avenue, where they will be joined by Los Angeles County Fire Fighters and receive a check in the amount of $25,000 from Homes For Heroes, the largest nationwide network of affiliate real estate, mortgage, and local business specializing in providing an easy path for heroes to save on a home.
"The health and well-being of California’s firefighters is our top priority and is essential to keeping our communities safe. There needs to be further education, coupled with FCSN’s unique approach, in assisting and supporting firefighters when it comes to navigating an occupational cancer diagnosis,” said Bryan Frieders, CEO and President of the FCSN. ”This significant contribution from Homes for Heroes will undoubtedly increase awareness and save lives. We are so grateful for the impact this will make on our mission."
At the 2022 IAFF Fallen Fire Fighter Memorial, almost 75% of the names added to the wall (348 out of 469) were members who had died from occupational cancer.
