A Texas fire chief died after he was ejected from the apparatus he was driving Wednesday night.
Fort Hancock Fire Chief Manuel Galindo Jr., 71, was traveling east along Highway 20 in Hudspeth County when he suddenly started to head off the roadway, the Texas Department of Public Safety told KVIA-TV. He tried to get the vehicle back on the road, but the apparatus then flipped over.
Galindo wasn't wearing a seat belt, and he was ejected from his vehicle. Emergency workers pronounced him dead at the scene, according to KVIA.
