An Indiana firefighter-EMT died Sunday from a heart attack shortly after returning home following an emergency call.
Harrison Township firefighter Robert "Bob" Cree, 72, was part of the response to a medical emergency just after 7 p.m., according to the Supporting Heroes website. When Cree returned home at around 8:10 p.m., he suffered an apparent heart attack.
Harrison Township crews responded to Cree's home and began life-saving measures. But efforts to resuscitate Cree were unsuccessful.
Cree had been with the Harrison Township Volunteer Fire Department in Lucerne for 45 years. He also was a member of the Indiana Volunteer Firefighters Association.
Cree is survived by his wife, Cathy, son, Robert, daughter, Carla, and five grandchildren. A celebration of life will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Gundrum Funeral Home & Crematory in Logansport, according to his obituary. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.
