OH Chief 'Truly Appalled' over FF Spraying Man Filming Him

March 30, 2021
An Akron firefighter has been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation after he used a hose to spray an activist recording him cleaning up a crime scene.

Akron Fire Chief Clarence Tucker told City Council he was "truly appalled" after seeing an Akron firefighter use a hose to spray an activist filming him.

"I can tell you that that type of behavior is unacceptable, and it will not be tolerated under any measure in the Akron Fire Department," Tucker said during the meeting. "I am embarrassed, and I will take care of the situation once we complete our investigation."

The incident, which was captured on video and uploaded to a YouTube channel called Ryan Ohio Protests, shows an Akron firefighter cleaning a sidewalk after a stabbing on Saturday.

The firefighter is then shown spraying the man filming with a fire hose.

Tucker told Council Monday night that the firefighter was put on administrative leave, and that an internal investigation is underway.
