THE ARLINGTON COUNTY, VA, FIRE DEPARTMENT, on behalf of the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments, recently took delivery of six Rosenbauer bomb squad vehicles purchased under a federal Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI) grant. Receiving units are the Arlington County, VA, Prince George’s County, MD, and Montgomery County, MD, fire departments; Metro Transit Police; Virginia State Police; and Loudoun County, VA. Each 27-foot vehicle is mounted on a Spartan Metro Star ER chassis and features an interior command center, 20-kilowatt generator, 6,000-watt light tower and a camera mounted on a 25-foot telescoping mast.
THE BERWYN, PA, VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT has taken delivery of an E-ONE Cyclone II 95-foot mid-mount aluminum ladder tower equipped with a 500-hp Cummins ISM engine, Allison 4000EVS transmission and 15-kilowatt Smart Power hydraulic generator.
THE VENTURA COUNTY, CA, FIRE DEPARTMENT has taken delivery of an American LaFrance LTI 100-foot tractor-drawn aerial built on an American LaFrance Eagle chassis powered by a 515-hp Detroit Diesel engine with an Allison 4500EVS transmission. Components include a Telma retarder, Whelen warning lights and ROM roll-up doors.
THE SURF CITY, NC, VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT recently placed in service a Pierce Contender rescue-pumper featuring a 425-hp Cummins ISL engine, Allison 3000EVS transmission, 1,250-gpm pump, 1,000-gallon poly tank, 10-kilowatt Harrison generator, Whelen LED lighting and Will-Burt Night Scan Chief light tower.
THE FORT LEE, NJ, FIRE DEPARTMENT has taken delivery of a Sutphen Monarch engine powered by a 515-hp Detroit Diesel Series 60 engine with an Allison 4000EVS transmission. Components include a 2,000-gpm Waterous CMUHC20C pump, 2,000-gallon water tank, 25-gallon foam tank, FoamPro 3060D foam system, 15-kilowatt Harrison generator, 2,000-gpm Task Force Tips Monsoon remote-controlled deck gun and Whelen LED warning lights.
THE PETERBOROUGH, NH, FIRE DEPARTMENT has taken delivery of a KME custom pumper built on a KME Predator chassis powered by a 600-hp Cummins ISX 15 engine. The unit features a 1,500-gpm Hale QMax pump, 15-kilowatt Onan generator and Fire Research MFA220 foam system.
THE FORT KNOX, KY, FIRE DEPARTMENT has taken delivery of a BullEx 27-foot fire safety trailer featuring interactive kitchen and bedroom emergency scenarios. Bullex SmartProp components include an integrated over-stove cabinet fire prop, trashcan and smoking outlet. The props respond to instructor controls and simulate the escalation of a residential fire with digital heat, smoke and flames. The bedroom scenario features a heated and smoking door prop.
THE HIGHPOINT FIRE COMPANY in Harvey Cedars, NJ, has taken delivery of a Crimson 103-foot aerial ladder built on a Spartan Gladiator chassis powered by a 525-hp Caterpillar C13 engine with an Allison 4000EVS transmission. The unit is equipped with a 1,750-gpm Waterous CSU pump and 10-kilowatt Harrison generator.
