This custom pumper/tanker built for the Township of South Frontenac, Ontario, is the first custom apparatus built by Arnprior Fire Trucks Corp., a manufacturer formed in late 2010. The apparatus features a Kenworth T300 Series chassis, 380-hp Paccar P-8 engine, 1,000-gpm Hale MBP PTO pump, 2,500-Imperial gallon custom semi-elliptical aluminum water tank, enclosed portable tank and hard-suction hose storage and LED lighting.

The Haines, OR, Fire Protection District has placed in service a Boise Mobile Equipment wildland/urban interface pumper built on an International 7400 4x4 chassis, Components include a Darley JMP 500 pump, Akron front-bumper monitor, 500-gallon UPF poly water tank, 25-gallon foam tank, Foam Pro 2001 foam proportioner, Hannay hose reels and Whelen LED lighting.

Pike County, KY, Emergency Management has taken delivery of a 39-foot, custom-designed BullEx Fire Safety Trailer featuring kitchen, bedroom and industrial emergency scenarios and dual briefing rooms. Training components in the kitchen scenario include interactive SmartStove and TrashCan SmartProps with integrated digital flames, smoke and sound effects. An Extreme Weather package added to the kitchen scenario simulates a hurricane, flood, tornado and earthquake with lighting and sound effects and realistic props. The bedroom scenario features a Heated Smoking Door prop and an E.D.I.T.H. window. A simulated sparking electrical panel, parts washer fire prop, fire alarm pull station and lock-out/tag-out station are included in the industrial scenario.

Danko Emergency Equipment has introduced AquaVantage, an ultra-high-pressure fire suppression system capable of operating at up to 1,200 psi at 20 gpm of water and features an auto-throttling system that will idle down the engine when the nozzle is shut down. The system is driven by an 18-hp Briggs & Stratton gasoline engine and includes a 250-gallon UPF poly water tank. The fire protection system is mounted on a Danko heavy-duty aluminum flatbed with two standing platforms on each side behind the cab. The chassis is a Ford F-350 4x4 with single rear wheels.

The Township Volunteer Fire Department in Eau Claire, WI, recently took delivery of a Darley pumper constructed on a Spartan Metro Star LFD custom chassis with a 330-hp Cummins ISC engine coupled to an Allison 3000EVS transmission. The PolyBilt body is constructed fully from copolymer plastic material guaranteed for life to be 100% corrosion free. The apparatus has seven compartments, all with ROM rollup doors and LED strip lighting. The pumping system features a 1,500-gpm Darley LDMBC pump connected to a 1,000-gallon water tank with an integral 30-gallon foam tank. This truck also features a color-coded Darley Vision laminate wrap-around top operator’s control panel and a Darley AutoCAFS compressed-air foam system that uses a FoamPro 2001 foam system to provide Class A foam to the six CAFS-capable discharges.

The Boston, MA, Fire Department has placed in service a 69-foot fireboat with chemical, biological and radiological emergency response capability. The vessel will be named John S. Damrell after the former chief engineer of the Boston Fire Department who battled Boston’s Great Fire of 1872 and who later became Boston’s first inspector of buildings in the 1880s. The fireboat can reach 36 knots and produces over 12,000 gpm at 150 psi with Hale FKF pumps. The main electronic monitor is a roof-mounted 5,500-gpm Stang with Elkhart 2,000-gpm and 1,250-gpm deck monitors.
