Hale Products Debuts New Class 1 Shift Interlock Module
Ocala, FL (April 21,2016)–With an eye on safety, Hale Products, Inc. is debuting a new Class 1 shift interlock module during FDIC International in Indianapolis. The module integrates Class 1 electronics to Hale’s reliable G gearbox ensuring shifts between road and pump modes can only occur when the apparatus is placed in neutral.
“This is something we’ve been working on for a while,” said Jeff VanMeter, pumps product manager for Hale Products. “With the introduction of NFPA 1901, 2016 edition, we were able to put the finishing touches on this project and debut it at FDIC. This is something that will protect both the firefighters and their equipment.”
Historically, this system has been mechanically driven by air. Making the interlock module system electronic simplifies its integration into electrical and multiplexed systems. Electronic control also increases firefighter safety by preventing runaway truck conditions and allows equipment protection by stopping damaging shifts.
This module can also be added to in-service apparatus, making them NFPA 1901, 2016 edition compliant.
