Product of the Day: Dynamic Variable Intensity Flash Patterns

Jan. 19, 2022
Dynamic Variable Intensity flash patterns from Whelen Engineering are designed to create a calm warning environment and advanced level of safety at nighttime emergency scenes.

Dynamic Variable Intensity™ flash patterns are designed to create a calm warning environment and advanced level of safety at nighttime emergency scenes – while meeting NFPA standards when properly configured. DVI™ patterns gradually increase and decrease warning light intensity, better conveying visual information to approaching motorists at night. These patterns clearly indicate when an emergency vehicle is parked, improving their ability to navigate around an emergency scene safely. As LED technology continuously advanced, a high intensity multi-flash light output proved essential to draw the maximum amount of attention to emergency warning vehicles in daylight response mode. At nighttime scenes, the rapid on-and-off of LED warning lights did not offer the same daylight benefits that users needed. It became clear that adjustments were needed for day and night versions – not just in intensity, but also in pattern. Click here for more.
