Multiple North Carolina fire vehicles were stranded when a private bridge they were on gave way early Sunday.
The incident happened just before 1 a.m. as crews from three fire departments responded to a blaze at a cabin in Weaverville, the Weaverville Tribune reports. The stranded vehicles include five from Weaverville Fire Department and two from Reems Creek Fire Department that became trapped on the other side of the bridge. A Reynolds Fire Department apparatus was partly on the bridge when it collapsed.
No firefighters were hurt when the bridge gave out. A person who was in the house fire suffered burns and was taken to a nearby hospital, the newspaper said.
"Stuff can be fixed. People can't as easily," Weaverville Fire Chief Ted Williams told WNCN-TV. "Just very fortunate no one was hurt."
Officials don't know how long it will take to free the vehicles. Crews from the Asheville and West Buncombe fire departments are helping to cover the Weaverville Fire District, the Tribune reports.
