Jan. 23—One person has died and two were injured in a crash between a vehicle owned by Denver Fire and a private vehicle Saturday afternoon.

A Denver police spokesman said all three casualties were in the private vehicle. The two injured people were transported to a hospital.

The Denver Fire Department tweeted later Saturday afternoon that one firefighter was being checked for possible injuries related to the crash.

The crash happened at about 1:37 p.m. at East Seventh Avenue and Speer Boulevard. The police spokesman advised the public to avoid the area this afternoon while they investigate the crash.

Denver Police determined the fire vehicle was responding to an emergency at the time of the crash, and had its lights and sirens activated. The investigation is ongoing, and police haven't released information about the rest of the circumstances surrounding the crash.
