Nashville Fire Apparatus Plunges into River's Floodwaters

A Nashville fire apparatus was trapped in floodwaters while responding to a call Sunday.
Firefighters were on their way to a water rescue when their apparatus slid off the road and into the high waters of the Harpeth River, WZTV-TV reports. Drone video from WSMV-TV shows the rig submerged in the river's floodwaters.
"Our personnel were able to safely get out of the trucks as the water was rising," Nashville Fire Department public information officer Joseph Pleasant told WKRN-TV. "This happened during the ongoing response to emergency calls."

The Nashville experienced historic flooding after heavy rainfall over the weekend that led to the deaths of at least four people. In less than 10 hours, the department received more than 2,500 calls, and firefighters rescued 130 people from the flooding.
