An Ohio firefighter was airlifted to a hospital with life-threatening injuries following an apparatus crash Friday.
The accident happened at about 11:30 a.m. as Benton Township firefighters were responding to a structure fire in Pike County, WBNS-TV reports. According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Ralph Law—the driver of the apparatus—lost control of the rig, and the vehicle drove off the side of the road.
Law, 63, then made an attempt to get the apparatus back on the roadway. But that was unsuccessful, and the emergency vehicle overturned.
Although Law was wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash, he still was seriously injured, The Scioto Post reports. Medflight flew him to the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.
