HI Firefighters Help Put Out Burning Army Apparatus

The Hawaii County Fire Department was in for a surprise today after being sent to a vehicle fire at the 13 mile marker on the Daniel K. Inouye Highway.
When county firefighters arrived, they discovered a fire engine from the Army's Pohakuloa Fire Department was on fire.
Firefighters were on the scene of the 7 :53 a.m. call by 8 : 11 a.m., found half the truck on fire, and had the fire under control within four minutes. It was declared extinguished at 8 :55 a.m.
HFD said the probable cause of the blaze was the engine's rear brakes overheating and catching on fire.
About 1, 000 gallons of water mixed with foam was used to extinguish the fire.
The Army's Pohakuloa Training Center has its own fire department, which said the cause remains under investigation and the engine is a total loss.
