NJ EMS Provider Sued after Patient Ejected from Ambulance

A suit has been filed against the South Plainfield Rescue Squad and South Plainfield EMS after a patient was ejected from an ambulance.

The South Plainfield Rescue Squad and South Plainfield EMS have had a lawsuit filed against then by a Woodbridge couple after he was ejected from the back of an ambulance when the rig struck a train bridge.

The suit alleges the ambulance was operated in a careless, negligent, and reckless manner that resulted in Joseph Giovannone suffering severe traumatic injuries, according to a report by My Central Jersey.

Giovannone was being transported in a South Plainfield Rescue Squad ambulance when the driver failed to observe the road conditions, and bridge sign, crashing into the bridge, according to the lawsuit.

The box portion of the ambulance contacted the bottom of the railroad bridge dislodging it causing  Giovannone to be ejected out of the back.

Giovannone suffered a serious injury and was transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, according to police officials.
