NC EMS Workers Injured in Fatal Ambulance Crash

A Hertford County EMS ambulance responding to a call collided with a 2010 Honda near Ahoskie that left two people dead and another in critical condition.

Two North Carolina EMS workers were injured in an accident between an ambulance and another vehicle that left two people dead and another in critical condition last week.

The crash happened as a Hertford County EMS ambulance was responding to a call and headed toward Ahoskie at about 10:45 p.m. Friday when it collided with a 2010 Honda, the Roanoke-Chowan News-Herald reports. The impact of the crash caused the ambulance to overturn into a ditch, and the occupants were able to safely escape. 

Three people were in the Honda at the time of the crash. The driver and a backseat passenger died from the injuries in the accident. Another passenger was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

The two EMS workers were taken to the hospital and later released. The accident is under investigation.
