Los Angeles Ambulance Going to Call Struck by SUV

A black Chevrolet SUV collided with a Los Angeles Fire Department ambulance in the Van Nuys area as the rescue unit was responding to an emergency.

A Los Angeles Fire Department ambulance responding to a call was struck by an SUV early Thursday.

The accident happened at about midnight in the Van Nuys area, according to OnSceneTV. Paramedics had been heading to a call when a black Chevrolet SUV collided with their ambulance.

After it struck the ambulance, the SUV then slammed into a bus stop before stopping against a building. One person was injured in the crash, but it wasn't clear what vehicle the person was in.

The ambulance suffered minor damage in the incident. Witnesses told OnSceneTV that the ambulance had been running its emergency lights and sirens at the time of the accident.

A battalion chief asked for police assistance at the scene after individuals who appeared to be related to the SUV's driver became aggressive. Officers were able to calm the situation while an investigation continued.
