'Someone Just Stole our Ambulance,' EMS Provider Tells Indianapolis Dispatcher

March 25, 2025
The thief who ran away after the rig hit a curb was apprehended by Indianapolis police.

"Someone just stole our ambulance."

That's what an EMS provider told an Indianapolis dispatcher over the radio Tuesday morning.

The crew was eating lunch when they noticed their ride was gone. The member of the EMS team isn't sure which direction the stolen ambulance was headed, WTHR reported.

Indianapolis police were advised that the ambulance had been abandoned and a man was running away. Officers took him into custody a short time later.

The left front tire was damaged and flat. During the joy ride, the ambulance struck a vehicle.
