Solomons, Md., Rescue 3 to Become Replica Model

Solomons Volunteer Rescue Squad and Fire Department in Calvert County, Md., have a Rosenbauer Commander in service, Rescue 3, that will soon become a 1:50 scale model.

Solomons Volunteer Rescue Squad and Fire Department in Calvert County, Md., have a Rosenbauer Commander in service, Rescue 3, that will soon become a 1:50 scale model with Fire Replicas, its first Rosenbauer apparatus recreated.

While the replica, due out in 2016 is impressive with photo-etch stainless steel, high-definition resin, wire and rubber, the apparatus itself is impressive as well.

It is a special service unit, classified as a rescue unit. It specializes in auto extrication and EMS support. It carries a full complement of Holmatro rescue tools. It also has a variety of stabilization equipment on board and medical supplies and equipment.

It's powered by a Cummins engine and an Allison transmission. To help with fire suppression it has a Hale 1,500-gpm pump and a 1,000-gallon tank.
