Crash Between OH Pumper and Stolen Kia Leaves Nine Injured

A Columbus battalion chief said four firefighters were among those injured when a stolen Kia crashed into Engine 18.

 A crash between a Columbus Division of Fire pumper and a stolen Kia left nine people injured Monday afternoon.

The stolen Kia SUV crashed into Engine 18 around 3:30 p.m. at Clara Street and East 11th Avenue, about a mile from where it was stolen, officials said.

Battalion Chief Jeff Geitter told WBNS.com that four firefighters were transported to Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and were listed as stable.

The apparatus suffered extensive damage to the front end.

Police said five juveniles from the Kia were detained at the scene and transported to Nationwide Children's Hospital for evaluation.

Fox8.com reported that police recovered four guns at the crash.
