Pickup Strikes Houston Apparatus at Crash Scene

Feb. 10, 2020
Houston firefighters were using the apparatus as a blocking vehicle while working at a previous accident scene when the collision happened, partially ejecting the pickup truck's driver.

A pickup truck collided with a Houston fire apparatus that was being used as a blocking vehicle at an accident scene over the weekend.

The accident happened at about 10 p.m. Saturday along Northwest Freeway, KPRC-TV reports. Firefighters had responded to a previous crash and were using an apparatus to block off the scene.

That's when an F-150 pickup truck struck the apparatus, which was unoccupied at the time. The truck's driver was partially ejected in the collision, and she wasn't wearing her seat belt at the time, according to KPRC.

Crews extricated the woman from the truck, and she was taken to the hospital in stable condition. Investigators are trying to determine if alcohol played a role in the accident, KPRC added.
