NSU Offers Firefighters’ Tuition Discount for Master's in Disaster and Emergency Management
FORT LAUDERDALE, FL—Nova Southeastern University (NSU) recognizes the need for leaders who take a proactive approach to preparedness and response to all types of hazards, both natural and man-made. Through its Master of Science in Disaster and Emergency Management (M.S. DEM) degree program, NSU spearheads the pursuit of the skills needed to manage crises and critical incidents.
For all full-time firefighters, paramedics, and EMTs interested in advancing their expertise and careers, NSU offers a 20 percent tuition discount for the M.S. DEM degree program—which can be completed entirely online. Through the first responders discount program, NSU enables firefighters to advance their credentials and improve their chances for promotion in the fire service.
“The online NSU Master of Science in Disaster and Emergency Management program 20 percent first responders’ tuition discount allowed and encouraged me to take my education to the next level,” said Tia Urella, a Broward Sheriff’s Office firefighter “This degree opens up so many doors and opportunities for my future.”
“The fire service of the future is putting a greater emphasis on higher education,” explained Daniel Rush, a Riviera Beach Fire Rescue Department firefighter. “The customizability of the program, coupled with the affordability for first responders, is why I chose NSU over the handful of other universities I was considering for my M.S. degree.”
Since its inception in 2012, the M.S. DEM program has provided this discount opportunity to several first responders. NSU offers this benefit to help ensure the safety and preparedness of first responders, as well as the greater community.
