Kaplan University’s Shine On Public Service Leaders | Recognizing Leaders Who Have Made a Difference
Public service professionals keep our cities safe and defend our country abroad, maintain our health and happiness, uphold our civil rights, push American innovation and infrastructure to new heights, and serve as guardians for our most vulnerable citizens and future generations. Kaplan University’s Center for Public Service is shining the spotlight on these everyday heroes who make a real difference in the lives of others, in so many ways and across so many career paths. Shine On Public Service is highlighting five professionals committed to supporting the fields of human services, psychology, public service, and public administration. As part of Kaplan University's Shine On Public Service series, Karla L. Drenner, PhD, MS, MBA, and Kaplan University College of Social and Behavioral Sciences faculty member, provides her perspective on leaders including Jeh Johnson, U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security; Tammy Baldwin, U.S. Senator for Wisconsin; Clarissa Black, Founder of Pets for Vets; and Bob Aiken, CEO of Feeding America, who all work to make a difference in the lives of others through careers in public service.
