NJ Firefighter's Family Loses Home in Blaze

Firefighters in a New Jersey community just south of New York City are rallying around one of their members after her family lost its home to a fire this past weekend.

NJ.com reports that the Williamstown Fire Department was called to a fire early Sunday morning at the home of firefighter Donna Parisi, who escaped the blaze unharmed along with her family.

Crews arrived at about 4:30 a.m. to find the roof in flames due to a suspected chimney failure, and the house was eventually deemed a total loss.

Parisi, who NJ.com says is in her early 20s, has been with the company for a little over a year and proven a valuable member in that time, according to 2nd Assistant Chief James DeHart III.

"She's a very good person," DeHart told NJ.com. "Anytime the pager goes off, she drops what she is doing to help a total stranger ... and now she's the one in need."

Those displaced by the blaze are staying with family and friends, and the Williamstown Fire Department has posted a mailing address on its Facebook page to collect funds and gift cards to assist the family.
