La Habra Heights Fire Department Assistant Chief Timothy Peel was arrested and accused of impersonating a police officer with a pickup.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department arrested the assistant chief of the La Habra Heights Fire Department for impersonating a police officer.

La Habra Heights Assistant Chief Timothy Peel was arrested last week in Whittier after he “impersonated a peace officer, conducted traffic stops, and unlawfully detained the victims,” the Sheriffs Department said in a press release.

It’s alleged that Peel used a 2020 white Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD pickup with emergency lights and a siren to conduct the traffic stops.

The Sheriff’s Department was seeking the public’s help in identifying any additional victims who may have been unlawfully detained by the suspect.

Jail records show Peel, 35, bonded out Thursday afternoon after paying $100,000 bail.

He is due in Downey Municipal Court on Monday, according to KTLA.
