Firefighter-Artist Creates Hot Mural for VA Station
Firefighter and artist Michael Furman recently completed a mural in Fairfax County Fire Station 24 using a mix of real props and paint.
The piece shows firefighters making a push up a stairwell and the mural took Furman close to 20 hours over a period of two months to complete.
The mural uses water-based acrylic paints for the characters and flames, and flat black interior latex and spray paints for the smoke and flame lighting effects, Furman wrote in a Facebook post.
The Facebook posts include a timeline of his project including sketch renderings, photos, and a video of his work.
Furman, a firefighter in both Fairfax County and LaPlata, MD, operates Flashover Art. In 2019, Furman shared his story with Firehouse about creating an entertaining children's fire safety outreach program.
