Saratoga Springs, NY, Fire Chief Earns $358K While on Administrative Leave

April 24, 2025
Despite being off the job for two years, Saratoga Springs Joseph Dolan is still getting paid.

Saratoga Springs is still paying its fire chief even though he hasn't worked since 2023.

Joseph Dolan was placed on administrative leave amid allegations of misconduct. However, he's received $358,000 in pay and compensation.

A probe conducted by New York State Police and Saratoga District Attorney's Office alleges Dolan was being paid as chief while participating or leading fire training classes, according to WNYT.

Neither agency filed criminal charges against him.

His attorney says Dolan considered the training part of his job, and handled his duties as chief while participating.
