IAFC, NIST Host Fire Training in Boston Nov. 4, 5
The Boston Fire Department, the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and the IAFC are partnering to present a Firefighter Safety Through Advanced Research (FSTAR) Townhall, Nov. 4 and 5.
The townhall is a one-day training event focused on modern fire-behavior research and science and the tactical considerations that can be used to reduce risk to firefighters operating on structure fires.
There will be two training sessions, Wednesday, November 4, and Thursday, November 5, each running 9 AM-4 PM. The Thursday session will be a repeat of the first day. The classes will be held at Florian Hall, 55 Hallet St., Dorchester Center.
Each session is open to the fire service at no cost to the attendee. Lunch for both days will be provided courtesy of the Gary Sinise Foundation.
The session will include three speakers:
• Dan Madrzykowski of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST)
• Chief Peter Van Dorpe of Algoquin-Lake in the Hills (Ill.) Fire Protection District
• Chief (Ret.) Cecil Clay of the Oklahoma City (Okla.) Fire Department.
