President Biden to Headline IAFF Legislative Conference
President Joseph R. Biden will appear Monday, March 6, before hundreds of professional fire fighters in the Nation’s Capital. President Biden, a long-time supporter of fire fighters, will be the first sitting U.S. president to address the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) in nearly 25 years.
The IAFF 2023 Alfred K. Whitehead Legislative Conference runs March 5-8 at the Hyatt Regency Capitol Hill. IAFF leaders representing all 50 states will meet to discuss legislation and advocate directly with their lawmakers on issues impacting jobs, health and safety, and economic security.
Throughout his career in public life, President Biden has stood on the side of fire fighters, supporting collective bargaining, protecting pensions and retirement, and ensuring fire fighters have what they need to get the job done.
The conference will also feature remarks from General President Edward A. Kelly and several leading lawmakers. On Tuesday, March 7 at 11 a.m., fire fighters will hold a rally at Union Square on the west side of the U.S. Capitol to urge Congress to help remove toxic PFAS from fire fighter turnout gear and provide resources needed to find safer alternatives.
When: Monday, March 6 at 12:15 p.m.
Where: Hyatt Regency Capitol Hill
400 New Jersey Avenue, NW
Washington, D.C.
